About Leslie

Leslie Glickman, founder and driving force behind Yoga Journey, was born and raised in New York and grew up with a tremendous passion for athletics and dance. She loved the combination of precision and fluidity in both disciplines and later found that yoga incorporates that intuitive flow, using graceful yet powerful postures to achieve health and wellbeing.

After relocating to Florida in 1990, and marrying her soul mate, Andy, Leslie made a career change from the advertising industry to managing an extremely successful South Florida fitness center which she co-owned with her husband.

It was in this setting that Leslie was introduced to the practice of yoga, an ancient discipline enjoying a 20th century resurgence as more athletes and fitness enthusiasts discovered a safer and more meaningful way to connect with their bodies—practice they could enjoy well into their later years. “This was life changing for me,” says Leslie. “I studied with some of the greatest teachers and learned how powerful the practice of yoga can be for everyone. It is the perfect blend of mind, body and spiritual endeavor that will transform your life for the better.”


Since 1995, Leslie has studied with the enigmatic Rodney Yee, the passionate Seane Corn, the irreverent Bryan Kest and gentle leaders Paul Grilley and John Friend. She also had the privilege to study with the great yoga master Sri K. Pattahbi Jois in 2002 when he visited the United States. Using her own vast knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology, Leslie developed her unique style of teaching that’s challenging yet compassionate, always mindful of the safety and comfort of her students.

Leslie is registered through Yoga Alliance at the 500 ERYT level, and refers to her style of teaching as “intelligent and organic.” Her goal is to inspire her students to take their yoga experience off the mat and into their lives. She enjoys working with all levels of students whether new to the practice or aspiring to become a teacher. This is especially true for students who have special challenges, physical, emotional or spiritual. Leslie enjoys teaching private clients, because the one-on-one relationship allows more intense and personal growth for the student.


She also specializes in helping clients who are being treated for fertility issues and has seen remarkable results in easing the stress and anxiety surrounding these treatments with balancing the physical and emotional body with chakra work and a softer practice. Leslie is adept at modifying the practice for individuals who have all types of injuries and health issues, including those with Parkinson’s disease. In addition, Leslie leads workshops for both teachers and students, helping them fine tune their practice and alignment.


Her true passion is bringing the community together to teach and share the gifts of yoga, uplifting lives and sending that positive energy out to the universe. Each week she offers a class to the city of Boca Raton in Sanborn Square, a beautiful park in downtown that is open to everyone. All level students, all ages and shapes and sizes come out to practice, sometimes with their kids and their dogs. It is a complimentary class that has exposed the community to the practice of yoga and is now drawing in over 100 people per week. “It gives me so much pleasure to come out and share the magic of yoga to all that want to come and experience it.” According to Leslie, it is her favorite practice of the week!


She is honored to be an ambassador for the ground-breaking organization lululemon athletica for the 3rd time since they have been in Boca Raton. Her association with them has offered her another path to follow on her journey to create a grassroots community and raise the vibration of this community from mediocrity to greatness. As her husband Andy says: “Leslie really walks the walk. The reason so many people find her words inspirational is that she is authentic. She lives a healthy life and truly wants to help others enjoy the gift of health and wellness through yoga.”

Back in 2010, Leslie created the Yoga Journey Teacher Training School and is registered with Yoga Alliance for teach both 200 and +300 hour levels of certification. In 2012, she expanded into an amazing new Yoga Journey Studio, located in the beautiful Wyndham hotel which offers students the opportunity to stay in luxury surroundings while attending one of Leslie’s many local yoga events and retreats.

Yoga Journey sponsors Yoga In The Park at Sanbourn Square in Boca Raton, a free community class taught outside each week by our founder and Chief Vision Officer, Leslie Glickman. Over 100 people in the middle of downtown practicing their hearts out…it’s an awesome sight!
Throughout the year we organize a series of community gatherings called Kula’s that feature great locations, live music, amazing yoga, food and plenty of time to meet and share a wonderful time with family and friends old and new. Our Local Retreats hosted at our own amazing resort style hotel and other local venues are another great way to share the gifts of yoga and offer a one of a kind life enriching experience.
With the energy of this thriving yoga community we can begin to raise the vibration of the world around us and provide uplifting support to others who are in need. About Yoga


The yoga helps to balance our energy. That is why we feel so good when we have finished our practice. I have learned that there are many more layers to the yoga. Thanks to some invaluable teachers and literature I have journeyed into a much deeper understanding of myself. The study of the Chakras will open doors into a greater awareness of how our history and experiences, our lifestyles and emotions, and our reactions to it all affect our health. As you read the section below you will discover a lot about yourself and the other people in your life. Please try to stay open to all possibilities without judgments. Awareness is the first step in doing some of the hard work. We all have a lot to learn and discover. It is all part of this incredible Yoga Journey. This information changed my practice, my teaching and my life. I hope that it will do the same for you. I feel that sharing this is very important and a necessary component for everyone doing yoga. Notice where your energy may be blocked and begin to apply a mindfullness that helps you let it go.   • Patanjali's 8 limbed system of yoga is called Ashtanga or Raja Yoga. Each limb of the tree of Raja Yoga represents a purifying yoga practice. It is through these practices that we purify the mind and body in order to experience incredible bliss and self knowledge.

    Overview

    Chakras (translated from Sanskrit as "wheels" of rotating energy and pronounced shock-ras),
    as defined by the Eastern Masters, are the intersections of vital energy. This energy flows in the ethereal body and in related locations of the physical body. There are hundreds of these intersections, but there are seven major chakras associated with the physical body where the major energy flow intersects. The health of an area of the physical body and the condition of its associated chakra are considered interdependent. When a chakra is vital, the associated portions of the body should also be in optimum state.


      Seven major chakras (from bottom up):
    7- Sahasrara = (Seventh) The Crown Chakra
    6- Ajna = (Sixth) The Third Eye Chakra
    5- Vissudha = (Fifth) The Throat Chakra

    Energy connection to the body – spinal column, Rectum, legs, bones, feet, immune system, large intestines, teeth.

    Mental/emotional/energetic issues – 1st Chakra energy orients us in time and space to our 5 senses. This energy is about literal perception--how you relate to your body, finances, home, work, environment. Family beliefs(religious, ethnic, political) support the formation of identity; roots, grounding, nourishment, trust, health, home, prosperity, appropriate boundaries, survival, social & familial law & order, ability to stand up for one’s self, patience, commitment, and manifestation of our ideas & dreams happens here.

    Contributors to imbalance - Birth trauma; abandonment; physical neglect; poor bonding with mother; mother not wanting child; malnourishment; survival threats; physical neglect; violent environment; inherited traumas (i.e. holocaust, war veterans, poverty).

    Physical Malfunctions - Disorders of the bowels, large intestine, disorders of solid parts of body: bones, teeth, issues with legs, feet, knees, base of spine, buttocks, eating disorders, frequent illness, depression, OCD, alcoholism, immune related disorders, multiple personality disorder, varicose veins.

    Balanced characteristics - Good health, vitality, energetically grounded, comfortable in body, stability, right livelihood, prosperity, sense of trust in the world, feeling of safety and security, ability to relax and be still.

    Deficient characteristics - fear; anxiety; resistant to structure; anorexic/underweight; spacey-flighty-vague; disconnected from body; restless; financial difficulties; disorganized; difficulty manifesting.

    Excessive characteristics - heavy/sluggish/slow; resistant to change/rigid boundaries; obesity/overweight; material fixation/greed/hoarding; workaholism; excessive spending.

    Affirmations - "I am willing to accept myself and others"; "I am grounded and connected to the earth"; "I am open to trusting myself"; "I am ready to release old habits that no longer serve me".

    Asanas - deep squat, cobblers, chair, standing poses, locust, child's pose.

    Balancing Activities for deficiency: garden, hike, bike, make something, grapple with something heavy, go into nature.

    Balancing Activities for excess: eat less, sleep less, work less, do less! Play more, laugh more, move more!

    2nd Chakra

    Svadhisthana
    Second Chakra
    "Moving"

    Meaning – sweetness Location – lower abdomen
    Element - water Sense - taste
    Food - liquids Challenge - guilt
    Color – orange Balancing Color - blue
    Addiction - sex, work, sugar, relationships Glands - ovaries/testes

    Energy connection to the body – Sexual organs, large intestines, lower vertebrae, pelvis, hips,
    bladder, kidney, bodily fluids.

    Mental/Emotional/Energetic issues – Second chakra energy is about pleasure. Once survival needs are met we turn to pleasure. This energy is about tuning in and finding connection especially as we use sexual intimacy to blur our physical boundaries and connect with another. Where healthy pleasure brings peace and contentment, denial of pleasure leads to overindulgence and addiction.

    Contributors to imbalance – Denial of feelings, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, coldness, rejection, religious or moral severity, physical abuse, alcoholic families, unplanned pregnancy.

    Physical Malfunctions – Reproductive issues, spleen/urinary system, menstrual or sexual dysfunction, impotence, low back pain, knee trouble, sciatica, lack of flexibility, deadened senses, loss of appetite for food, life, sex.

    Balanced Characteristics – Emotional intelligence, enjoys pleasure, nurture others and self, healthy boundaries, embraces change, passionate.

    Deficient characteristics – Rigid in body & attitude, fear of change, frigidity, fear of sex, poor social skills, emotional numbness, denial of pleasure , excessive boundaries, lack of desire, passion, excitement, insensitive, boredom, moodiness.

    Excessive characteristics – Sexual acting out, sex addiction, pleasure addiction, addiction to stimulation, excessively strong emotions, ruled by emotions (hysteria, bi-polar mood swings, crisis junkie), excessively sensitive, emotional, poor boundaries.

    Affirmations – " I am alive and joyful"; "I am in the flow of my life"; "I am in tune with my emotions"; "I am able to surrender my fears".

    Asanas – seated forward bends, camel, eagle, seated hip openers, goddess pose.

    Balancing Activities – drink lots of water, bathe, swim, increase flexibility (take a yoga class!), dance, feel pleasure, experience emotion, become flexible in your attitudes, increase sensuality by tuning into your senses - color, texture, smell, sound, flavor, etc.

    3rd Chakra

    Manipura

    "Directing"

    Meaning – lustrous gem Location – solar plexus
    Element - fire Sense - sight
    Food - complex carbs Challenge - shame
    Color – yellow Balancing Color - violet
    Addiction - sugar, caffeine, food, compulsive cleaning Glands - pancreas and adrenals

    Energy connection to body – Stomach, pancreas, adrenals, upper intestines, gall bladder, liver, mid-spine, digestive systems, muscles.

    Mental/emotional/energetic issues – Third chakra energy is about individualization, will, self-esteem, self- respect, self-confidence, care of self and others, being decisive. The third chakra controls digestion and metabolism--literally and symbolically processing energy to overcome apathy and inertia. In the third chakra there is a shift from relating to the world around us to understanding ourselves.

    Contributors to imbalance – Shaming, authoritarianism, volatile situations, domination of will, physical abuse, dangerous environment, fear of punishment, emotional manipulation, inherited shame from parents.

    Physical Malfunctions – Eating disorders, digestive disorders, ulcers, hypoglycemia, diabetes, muscle spasms, chronic fatigue, hyper-tension, stomach problems, pancreas issues, arthritis, liver dysfunction, hepatitis, adrenal dysfunctions. Most third chakra illnesses are related to self-responsibility/self-esteem, or fear of rejection/criticism.

    Balanced characteristics – Responsible, reliable, effective will, good self-esteem, warm personality, confident, good sense of humor.

    Deficient Characteristics – Low energy, weak will, easily manipulated, poor self-discipline and follow through, low self-esteem, cold, poor digestion, collapsed middle, attraction to stimulants, victim mentality, passive, unreliable, hyper-sensitive to criticism, perfectionism.

    Excessive Characteristics – Overly aggressive, controlling, need to be right and have last word, manipulative, power hungry, attracted to sedatives, tantrums, stubborn, outbursts, type A, competitive.

    Affirmations – " I am strong centered and determined"; "I am powerful, brave and focused"; "I am able to gracefully weather life's unexpected storms"; "I am strong enough to follow through".

    Asanas – core moves (bicycles, boat, plank) twists, forward bends

    Balancing Activities for Deficiency – Take risks; make mistakes; give yourself room to explore flounder learn. Eat hot spicy food; drink hot teas; exercise vigorously; eat lightly; increase light in home; light candles; decorate with pointed shapes like triangles, diamonds, sunbursts; increase use of yellow and red in home/wardrobe; high gloss paint moves energy.

    Balancing Activities for Excess – Avoid spicy foods/caffeine; relax, meditate, breathe deeply; take time off. Increase water element in your life. Soften contrasts in home/wardrobe. Use more rounded forms.

    4th Chakra

    Meaning – unstruck Location – heart
    Element - air Sense - touch
    Food - green vegetables Challenge - grief
    Color – green Balancing Color - red
    Addiction - nicotine, marijuana Glands - thymus

    Energy connection to body – heart, lungs, diaphragm, chest, thymus, circulatory system, shoulders, arms, hands, ribs, breast.

    Mental/emotional/energetic issues – The fourth chakra is the bridge between the upper and lower chakras-it is the space from which we give and receive love; inviting us to expand beyond the self and find union with another--the heart speaks of "we" rather than "me". Fourth chakra energy is about finding balance--mind/body, self/other, light/shadow/, masculine/feminine. The result of this balance is peace. To open the heart is to feel compassion and empathy for the self and others. Embrace the healing power of forgiveness as opposed to human justice.

    Contributors to imbalance – rejection, constant criticism, loss, grief (own or parents), despair, jealousy, shyness, resentment, disengaged, unemotional, dependent, sorrow, betrayal, sexual/physical abuse, divorce, cold environment.

    Physical Malfunctions – cardiac problems, hypertension, stroke, respiratory ailments, asthma, allergies, upper back and shoulder problems, bronchial pneumonia, sunken chest, breast cancer.

    Crystals are the blossoms of the mineralogical portion of the earth; the recognition of the beauty and loving energies of these forms can greatly enhance ones personal development.

    •  kundalini Yoga of awareness as taught by Yogi Bhagan. Combining breath, movement, mantra and meditation to release tension and stress. Experience not necessary - just a willingness to take an inward journey and awaken the power within.
    • anusara A heart centered practice that is a blend of vinyasa and the universal principles of alignment. Modifications and/or variations are offered making this practice fun, invigorating and available to all levels.
    •  lunch and learn This donation only class supports the Yoga Journey Teacher Training Scholarship Fund. It is a discussion only class that explores all aspects of yoga theory, philosophy, and so much more. Topics change weekly and guest teachers are brought in for special topics as well.

      Leslie Glickman, ERYT 500, started teaching Yoga in 1995 and has a passion for building community and creating a safe space for her students to grow. She has been working in health and wellness for over 23 years and is highly sought after as a teacher and presenter. She teaches a variety of styles and believes that there is a yoga practice for every “body”. She loves to work with teachers as well as beginners in vinyasa, yin yoga and meditation. She encourages everyone to take the practice off the mat and get honest about their life. Yoga is a journey of self-realization. “As each one of us grows… we raise our vibration and the vibration of our community”.
       
      Leslie is the owner of Yoga Journey Inc. a multi-faceted business that offers Worldwide Retreats, Teacher Trainings (RYS 200/500), and a beautiful studio in the Wyndham Hotel Boca Raton with group classes and workshops. She also works with a diverse group of private clients to help them achieve their personal goals. Beyond the studio, Leslie has developed a number of donation based community classes at local parks and green markets in order to make yoga more accessible to everyone. She is an ambassador for lululemon athletica, Boca Raton Town Center. Her relationship with them comes from a shared passion for building community.
       
      What really matters most to Leslie is her family. All her work in the community is supported by her husband Andy, and 2 children, Molli and Braeden.     • Aaron Erickson

      Aaron Erickson

      Aaron Erickson (Creator of Mystical Human, an esoteric education and training program, and co-founder of JAI Healing Arts) is a mystic, a shaman, a yogi, a Daoist, and an intuitive healer. Aaron is a full time healing arts teacher/practitioner, a nationally recognized neuromuscular massage therapist with 16 years of full time dedication, and has worked hands on with over 12,000+ people. Aaron has a degree in health science. He is also a vedic thai-yoga massage practitioner and is a certified teacher with the Vedic Conservatory.
       
      His practice is dynamic in that he incorporates massage therapy, breath work, meditation, spirituality, diet, strength and conditioning coaching along with an yoga to assist individuals in returning to an optimal state of health and vibrance. Aaron is a passionate yoga practitioner and teacher. He is certified with Yoga Alliance and has 12 years teaching experience. Aaron received initiation into the inner path of yoga through the Siddha Yoga lineage which was introduced by his teacher Randy Martin, a direct initiate of Swami Muktananda. Aaron studied and practiced closely with his teacher since the age of 22 and immediately began doing deep meditation practices and introspection. For about 1 years Aaron sat and received transmission and did practice with his teacher one on one for 5 hours a day 5 days a week and also practiced countless hours on his own exploring the inner self.
       
      Aaron has gone on to study with other teachers and continues to study sacred knowledge from many different wisdom traditions and inspiring beings as possible. He is now sharing his knowledge and experience through ongoing community events, workshops, classes, private sessions, and retreats. Everything he teaches he has self-tested which allows him to accurately guide students on their path to healing and self-realization. He believes we are here, incarnate, for two main reasons, first to enjoy the human experience and second to contribute toward manifesting Heaven on Earth through our love, talents, and service.
       
    • Akal Klauber

      Grief and depression caused Akal to seek out Kundalini Yoga. The journey inward brought about a peace and healing she thought impossible. Her gratitude inspired her to become a teacher to share with others the incredible science that Yogi Bhajan gifted the world with. Akal has been teaching since 2000 with an emphasis on opening the heart center to enable healing and growth through love of self.

      Amy is a former elementary school teacher who graduated from NYU with a BS in education. She has been practicing yoga for over ten years. She decided to take her passion and train to share her love of yoga with others. She is known for her compassionate teaching and attention to details. She is eager to help her students learn and work to their fullest potential. Amy completed her RYT 500 yoga teacher training through Yoga Journey in Boca Raton, Florida.
       
      Amy has a way of keeping it real and fun while maintaining the integrity of the yoga practice. She blends the physical and the spiritual sharing that we can take these lessons with us off the mat.
       
      Amy practices with a variety of teachers at different studios to keep her ideas fresh. She lives in Parkland and is the proud mother of three wonderful children.
       
    • Debra Zambrana

      Debra Zambrana


       
      Debra graduated from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton in 1992 with her Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting and in 2002 with her Masters of Business Administration and spent many years in her chosen field – Insurance Accounting and Operations. Debra discovered yoga, quite by accident, and has never looked back, leading her to make a change – a HUGE change. After 30 years, she retired from the insurance industry, took a huge leap of faith, and followed her yoga bliss.
       
      Debra has been involved in fitness in some way shape or form since the age of 18 and holds a 2nd degree black belt. After receiving her 200 hour yoga teacher certification in July, 2011, under the guidance of her friend and mentor Leslie Glickman, she hit the ground running and has been teaching full time ever since. In August, 2013, Debra received her 500 hour certification, also under Leslie Glickman. Debra continues to attend workshops and conferences as well as maintaining a regular personal practice with a variety of teachers and styles so that she can continue to bring innovative ideas and perspective to her students.
       
      Debra has a way of keeping it real & fun while maintaining the integrity of the practice. She focuses on breath and movement, recognizing that proper form and alignment are the best way to prevent injury. She blends the physical with the spiritual – advising her students that “yoga will change your life whether you want it to or not!” She knows this first hand.
       
    • Heather Berg

      Heather Berg


       
      Heather Berg, E-RYT200, is a former Montessori teacher who has been a yoga practitioner since 1990 where, as a college student, she took her first “Intro to Sun Salutations” at NYU. She practiced many yoga traditions over her 20 plus years, but it wasn’t until her yoga training with Leslie Glickman, where she was formally trained in Vinyasa Krama (intelligent sequencing designed with a specific intention) did she find her true calling.
       
      Heather’s passion is to share her enthusiasm of yoga and to create a positive experience for her students. Her mission is to meet the needs of individuals as well as to teach at a deeper level beyond the postures. Heather’s precisely cued invigorating Vinyasa classes focus on cultivating breath and body awareness while her Yin classes relax both the body and mind taking practitioners to a deeper level of sensitivity and stillness, both inside and out.
       
      She is always researching and exploring other respectable yoga teacher trainings and workshops so that she can continue her own growth to bring new concepts to her students. Some of the teachers Heather has practiced and studied with are Elena Brower, Seane Corn, Terri Cooper, Jason Crandell, Kathryn Budig and Joe Barnett.
       
      When asked what she loves about yoga, Heather says, “It’s the perfect opportunity to see who I really am. It brings me home.”
       
      Heather lives in Boca Raton with her husband and two beautiful daughters.

      Jo Boccassini is an Iyengar Certified teacher, a Certified Yoga Kids Facilitator and has 200 RYT hours. She started practicing Iyengar yoga in 2002 due to numerous injuries. She is a world traveler and has travelled to India to study with the Iyengars, Rajiv & Swati Chanchani and Bharatha Shetty. Jo’s senior teachers in the US are Colleen Gallagher, Manouso Manos, and Rebecca Lerner.
       
      Her consistent goal is to make the poses accessible and successful to the young and old and to promote physical and spiritual well-being. She uses quick wit and a playful manner to create a powerful experience, helping people relieve the stress of their modern day lives.

      With a strong emphasis on anatomy, core strength, posture and precision, Juli’s mindful classes provide a playground that enhances patience and concentration.

       
      Classically trained & certified in all Pilates equipment and mat since 2002 (600 Hour), Juli later found a deeper mind-body relationship in yoga and earned that certification in 2010 from Leslie Glickman (Vinyasa) and Philip Christodoulou (Anuttara). A rapacious yoga student herself, her greatest joy is bringing the knowledge she learns from others to her students.
       
      A self-professed life-long learner, Juli has a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology, with an emphasis in lifelong/adult learning. Above all, she is a teacher.
       
    • Lauren Ziegler

      Lauren Ziegler


       
      Lauren’s healing journey through yoga began in 2000. When she began to crave more than the home practice she was dedicated to, she received her 200hr in 2010 with Jacqueline Chiodo. Passionate about continuing to grow, she completed her 500hr certification with Leslie Glickman in 2014. Her intention in teaching is to offer a space for others to feel inspired, empowered and more connected.
       
      The passion she holds for yoga as a healing art comes from her own experience. At her most radiant moments, and her darkest moments yoga has consistently made her feel more alive, connected, empowered, clearer, inspired and peaceful. As she struggled with various issues and uncovered hidden pieces of her life, practicing yoga allowed her to face what she had previous attempted to escape. Beyond that, teaching has been healing in a way she never could have imagined. Her personal work is to continue to heal through movement, moments of stillness and creativity. Her hope is to inspire by sharing what she continues to learn through her healing exploration.
       
      Lauren also holds certifications Prenatal Yoga, Radiant Child Yoga III and Reiki III along with her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art.

Her mission is to empower her students to move beyond their perceived limitations in order to find the freedom and confidence necessary to create a life of passion and immeasurable joy.
       
      She has been a dedicated student of yoga since 2001, and with a desire to deepen her practice, she began her teacher training with Laura Tyree on the Gulf Coast in 2004. She has been teaching since that time. Since 2008 she has been studying with Amy Ippoliti and is currently Anusara Inspired®. While she primarily studies with Amy, she also explores other reputable yoga teacher trainings and workshops in order to continue her own evolution and to bring new depth and a fresh perspective to her students.
       
      In addition to public classes, and private instruction, she hosts workshops and retreats around the globe. Lori lives in Delray Beach with her husband Craig, daughter Cheyenne, son Nick, and menagerie of animals.

      In 2010 Mary Ann decided to share her passion for Yoga with others. In that same year she completed her 200 hour Teacher Training under direction of Leslie Glickman and Philip Christodoulou. In 2013 she continued to deepen and expand her knowledge by completing the 500 hour under the direction of Leslie Glickman.
       
      She has studied many different styles of Yoga including Anusara, Ashtanga, Kundalini, Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin. Mary Ann is inspired by teachers such as Beryl Bender Birch, Bryan Kest, Kino MacGregor, Gurnukh, Rod Styker and Seane Corn. Mary Ann teaches a Vinyasa class with an emphasis on core strength through dynamic and innovative sequence. She inspires you to live from your deep self so you can uncover what is truly important for you on and off the mat and into your life!
    • Pam Leal

      Pam Leal

      Pam was certified to teach yoga in Fort Lauderdale, however it was weekly classes with her friend and teacher Leslie Glickman that revealed her discipline and passion for yoga. Already from a family of fitness minded people, Pam knew how to "work out". Yoga brought a grounding stillness into her world that she so desperately needed. After the tragic death of Pam’s daughter Bailey, Pam immersed herself in Leslie’s 500 hr teacher training program. Completion in September 2014 has allowed Pam a new spectrum of opportunities, Yoga on the Wall and Enhanced Yoga Stretching.
       
      The depth of learning yoga and teaching what she has learned, has given Pam and her students great satisfaction. Pam leads Vinyasa classes that are fun and unique. Many years of teaching all different levels enables her to see how to motivate a student to the mat no excuses.
       
      The healing power of Yoga has touched Pam’s life from every angle, now, that purpose and passion can be received by students in Pam’s classes.
    • Robert Candelario Jr

      Robert Candelario Jr

      Robert is a Yoga Alliance Certified (RYT200)Teacher in Vinyasa Krama and is currently working on a RYT500 certification through Leslie Glickman's Yoga Journey. His original journey was to find health and to learn what that actually means. 70 lbs later with clearer skin, amazing number changes in cholesterol, blood pressure, bone density, increase in strength, an open heart radiating with love, and a peaceful calm mind we think he found it.
       
      Robert found that a person to be truly healthy, that the mind, body, and heart would all have to be operating properly. A person with a fit body and a frazzled mind is not any healthier than a person with a calm mind and out of shape body. Even more so a person with a calm mind, fit body and broken heart would also not be flowing to the persons full potential. A person is only as strong as there weakest link. That weak link will eventually leak into the healthy areas if not dealt with. The solution was simple Yoga could offer healing in all areas to the practitioner. So, armed with knowledge and compassion Robert's goal is to help the practitioner find the power and faith in themselves to overcome all obstacles. The method is different with every person and class since the needs are completely different and can change over time. But the tools are always the same, just the ratios change. Breath work, mantras, drishti (internal and external), meditation and the power of dynamic Vinyasa.
       
      Robert's class has a spiritual feel to it which Robert says is because the student is seeing there own light -- there is something amazing in learning you don't have to find the light, just simply release the light, by removing blocks wherever they may be. Once you see it in yourself you can really began to see it in others (Namaste) and that is when your truly glowing in health.

      Stefanie came to yoga in 2006 as a means to compliment her other physical workout regimen. It wasn't until she found Vinyasa, and was subsequently taken away in the moving meditation of the flow, that she became completely hooked to yoga in mind and in body.
       
      She received her 200HR Vinyasa certification from James Kigar and Judy Weaver. She then combined her two passions, teaching and yoga, to inspire many to see the dynamic workout, work-in and work-through that yoga really is.
       
      Stefanie is an energetic and passionate yoga teacher with experience teaching students of all levels. Five years ago, Stefanie found Move Through Yoga™ (501C3 pending), a for-credit elective now implemented in 2 Palm Beach County High Schools. The program aims to graduate mind-body fit students through a daily yoga and meditation practice. Through her innovative curriculum and unique approach to teaching high school students of all athletic abilities, Stefanie guides over 200 all-level-yogis at a neighboring high school. Stefanie also teaches yogis in the community daily. Her sequencing allows for purposeful movements and meaningful moments of stillness. Her music, like her energy, will keep you smiling throughout her entire flow. She is also ecstatic to be recognized as a lululemon Ambassador, and inspires to bring generations of yogis together from around the community.

    About this training

    Yoga has been handed down verbally from teacher "guru" to student for thousands of years. Although today we have formal teacher training programs I still believe in the tradition of mentoring. You must find a teacher that you want to emulate. Because of the guidelines set by the Yoga Alliance most of the content will be similar from one school to the next. The key is to discover a course that connects with your intention. In this program we will explore the energetic and emotional journey of yoga. You will learn Anatomy / Physiology as it pertains to the practice, intelligent sequencing, asana, and alignment, chakras will be studied in depth. Philosophy, Traditions, Lifestyle and Ethics of yoga will also be addressed. I look forward to sharing this life changing information with you so you can apply it... on and off the mat. I have been teaching yoga since 1995 and my greatest honor is to share it! I believe that yoga is a science and an art and it is my goal to have you fall so in love with yoga that it overflows into every aspect of your life. This overflow will inspire you to teach or simply enrich your practice, your life and the lives of the people you love.

     

    Before beginning the training

    Before you can register, you must have a minimum of 1-2 years of regular steady yoga practice. It is suggested to meet with the head teacher for an interview as well. This session will consist of four weekend intensives stretched over a period a 4 months. There is a flexible schedule throughout each month to get in our class time and assignments. We will spend one weekend of each month together from Friday to Sunday. Being located in the Wyndham Hotel in Boca we have the option of staying in residence or commuting. Each weekend session includes time for practice, lectures and meal breaks etc. During the rest of the month you will be required to attend Sacred Studies on Wed evenings from 5-10pm and 2 classes per week of your choice. There will also be independent reading and homework assignments. Absences will be dealt with on an individual basis, but any content missed (which may include practice hours and/or lecture content) must be made up privately, in which case you may incur additional fee’s. We will also be going on field trips to experience other styles of yoga during the course of our 4 months together. Everyone must attend at least three of the following styles (Bikram, Anusara, Ashtanga, Iengar or Kundalini). During your weekly class time you will practice, observe and/or assist. Self study will also be required for this course; this includes homework assignments and required reading to prepare for upcoming weekend sessions. This will amount to approximately two hours per week. It is the combination of contact hours, self study and practice time that accumulate to meet our requirement of 200 hours for certification. By scheduling this way it gives you the opportunity to fit these hours into your life in a way that is reasonable for you. It also allows you the necessary time to absorb and digest your experiences during the training.

     

    Upon completion of this program

    When you have fulfilled all the requirements of this training you will receive a certificate of completion from Yoga Journey (RYS). This will allow you to register yourself with Yoga Alliance as a 200 hour teacher. This of course adds to your credibility as a teacher and will also enable you to proceed forward with your studies into an advanced training course (additional 300 hours) so that you may become a 500 hour teacher.
